To get the best performance from the Devaux backing, we recommend a careful rigging with a secure joining knot (such as an arbor knot to attach to the reel, and an Albright or nail knot to connect to the fly line). Choose the strength appropriate to the target species and water body. Properly filling the reel with this backing allows faster retrieval during extended fights. Ensure even distribution of the backing on the spool to avoid overlaps during casts or retrieves.
