Advantages and strengths of the Devaux Sedge ELK2 flies Thanks to a carefully studied design, the Devaux Caddis Sedge ELK2 flies stand out for their high level of realism. The natural elk hair used for the wings provides excellent buoyancy, even in strong current zones. The silhouette faithful to natural insects convinces even the wariest trout, while ensuring a perfect presentation on the water surface. The robustness of the materials allows repeated use without loss of effectiveness. Designed with particular attention to detail, this fly maximizes success chances during evening rises or mass caddis hatches.
Usage tips and recommended rigs To exploit the full potential of the Devaux Sedge ELK2, favor a fine tapered leader for a discreet presentation. A floating main line in natural or synthetic silk will maximize the fly’s hold on the surface. Lightly applying floatant to the elk hair wings will further improve buoyancy. A gentle lay-down cast, subtle twitches and a natural drift are the most effective techniques to attract trout during sedge activity. The fly is ideally used solo or paired with a light nymph on a dropper rig.
