Benefits and key strengths: The Devaux EMERGENT FLY MAI03 excels with its unmatched effectiveness during mayfly emergences. Thanks to a strict selection of materials and an innovative design, it offers a hyper-realistic finish that fools even the wariest fish. Its natural buoyancy produces numerous takes from selective trout. The profile perfectly imitates insects breaking the surface, making the fly irresistible to active fish.
Recommended use and rigging: The MAI03 performs best during hatches or at dawn and dusk, when fish are especially attentive to emergers. Use it tied to a long, fine fluorocarbon tippet to maximize stealth. It is ideal for delicate presentations in shallow water or along margins. It can also be used with a micro-tip or a light weighted head to improve drift and keep the fly at the right depth. Natural drift and subtle roll presentations are ideal to mimic a real emerger. Consider fishing it as a dropper in tandem with a dry or a nymph to cover all stages of the rise.
