Devaux Gammarus Fly PT 02

Product benefits

The Devaux Gammarus Fly PT 2 is an artificial fly inspired by the gammarus, a small freshwater shrimp common in rivers and reservoirs. Designed to faithfully imitate this prey sought after by salmonids, it offers a natural presentation and a controlled drift, ideal for deceiving wary and active trout.

Its compact profile, realistic silhouette and precise balancing ensure immediate effectiveness in sight fishing as well as in nymphing on the line. Chosen by many specialists, this fly stands out for its versatility and its ability to trigger takes even in difficult conditions.

Advantages and key features

This gammarus imitation stands out for its realism and discretion, two decisive aspects when targeting cautious fish. The precise tying improves film-holding and provides a clear reading of the drift, a major asset in technical fishing. Its balanced density helps reach the target water layer quickly without disturbing the path, increasing hookup rates on fish holding near the bottom or along margins.

The Devaux Gammarus Fly PT 2 is a reliable choice when fish focus their feeding on benthic crustaceans. Its ability to remain convincing in varied currents and to retain a natural appearance makes it a versatile reference throughout the season.

Usage advice

Use this fly on short, controlled drifts, focusing on slow seams, grassy margins and gravel areas where gammarus concentrate. When nymphing on the line, favor a fine tippet and a drag-free drift. In sight fishing, present it slightly upstream of the fish and accompany the descent with the rod held high to maintain contact.

Recommended rigs: short dropper with a lighter nymph on the point to adjust the sink rate, or alone when fish are very wary. A tapered leader and light dressing of the running line help preserve a stable drift. Vary the action with small minimalist twitches only if fish follow without committing.

FAQ

Is this fly suitable for clear water?
Yes, its subdued finish and realistic silhouette make it an excellent option in clear water and on educated fish.

Can it be used in reservoirs?
Yes, it performs particularly well along banks, weedbeds and structures where gammarus are abundant.

Should it be animated?
Most of the time, a natural drift is enough. Light impulses can trigger the strike if fish follow without taking.
