Usage tips and recommended setups

To fully exploit the potential of Devaux pike flies, use a powerful rod suitable for large predators and a floating or intermediate line depending on the targeted depth. Equip your leader with a steel or thick-diameter fluorocarbon bite leader to withstand pike's sharp teeth. Slow retrieves with marked pauses often trigger strikes. Don’t hesitate to vary retrieval speeds to provoke the predatory instinct. Use light weighted heads when needed to explore different water layers. Test multiple zones: weedbeds, edges of submerged timber, or shaded areas where pike like to ambush.
