Product Advantages
The Megabass MRX Griffon is a floating crankbait for predator fishing specially developed to efficiently prospect intermediate water layers. Compact yet very dense, this small hardbait dives quickly to reach its working depth and rises when retrieval stops, allowing precise control as it passes over structure.
Thanks to its internal tungsten weighting, this crankbait benefits from a tighter, more attractive action, more stable and more vibratory than the previous generation. This design optimizes transmission of vibratory signals through the line and increases the lure's ability to trigger reflex strikes from wary fish.
The MRX Griffon's chunky body combined with a well-designed lip allows it to naturally deflect off obstacles. Instead of snagging, it bounces off rocks, wood or bottom irregularities, reducing hang-ups while producing trajectory changes that perfectly mimic a fleeing baitfish.
Technical Features
- Compact floating crankbait for freshwater predator fishing.
- Designed to reach intermediate zones around 2.5 m depending on retrieval speed and line diameter.
- Internal tungsten weighting providing increased stability and a tighter action than previous versions.
- Lively swimming action producing marked vibrations, effective on both active and educated fish.
- Engineered lip to optimize diving depth and the ability to clear obstacles without snagging.
- Compact profile that casts easily and allows quick coverage of large areas.
- Designed for use with light to medium power spinning or casting rods.
Benefits and Key Strengths
The primary strength of the MRX Griffon lies in its ability to quickly prospect an area. Its targeted working depth for intermediate layers makes it ideal for sweeping shorelines, breaks or slightly deeper zones where pike, perch and zander often hunt.
Its tight swimming action gives it a very natural behavior, even at low speed. Where some crankbaits lose effectiveness when retrieved slowly, the MRX Griffon keeps working, allowing presentation adjustments to match fish activity without sacrificing attractiveness.
The specific design of its lip and body enhances its ability to withstand contact with the bottom and obstacles. Each bounce triggers a change of direction or a slight offset that can provoke an immediate strike. This ability to fish close to predators' hiding spots while limiting snags makes a real difference on snagged spots.
Its buoyancy is also a major advantage: by applying short pauses during retrieval, the lure slowly rises, simulating an injured baitfish trying to regain elevation. This rise is often when the most violent strikes occur.
Usage Tips
The Megabass MRX Griffon performs best on a steady retrieve punctuated with pauses or slight bursts of speed. A simple but consistent animation preserves its tight action and exploits its working depth to the fullest.
To take advantage of its ability to run through obstacles, let it run over irregular bottoms, along edges, around deadwood, rip-rap or submerged structures. When you feel contact with an obstacle, keep retrieving or apply a short pause: the lure will bounce off and resume with a slight change of direction, which very often triggers strikes.
Adjust retrieval speed to fish mood: faster to cover water and target active fish, slower with pauses to tempt following or wary predators. Using an appropriate leader for the targeted species and a reasonably sized line helps maintain the intended diving depth and maximizes feel during the fight.
FAQ
Question 1: Which types of predators is the Megabass MRX Griffon best suited for?
Answer: The MRX Griffon is ideal for targeting freshwater predators that hunt in intermediate layers, notably pike, perch and zander. Its compact size, tight action and ability to work close to obstacles make it a relevant choice for both fast prospecting and focused presentations, regardless of the color or finish chosen in the range.
