Product highlights
The Megabass Great Hunting Humpback is a trout minnow specially developed for demanding anglers in rivers and streams. Heir to the small minnows of the Great Hunting range, it takes their DNA while pushing the notion of illusion and realism further. Its refined profile and characteristic humpback-type back have been worked to maximize the perception of shape change at each oscillation, creating an irresistible visual signal for wary salmonids.
During straight retrieves, its very pronounced rolling makes its flanks flash noticeably. This tight but ultra-live swim allows you to trigger educated fish while maintaining excellent stability, even in strong currents. The lure keeps a clean, readable trajectory, which makes it easier to control the presentation and the drift.
Another major asset: a rear-shifted center of gravity. This internal architecture, a signature of Megabass designs, optimizes both casting distance and accuracy. It allows you to easily reach opposite banks, marked current seams and spots under overhangs, where the best trout often lie. Once in the water, this mass distribution also promotes a fast, controlled sink on pauses, allowing efficient exploration of different water layers.

Benefits and strong points of the product
The primary advantage of the Great Hunting Humpback lies in its ability to provoke strikes where other lures fail. Its powerful rolling generates consistent flashes even at low retrieve speeds, allowing slow fishing in cold or heavily fished areas while remaining attractive. This strong visual signature helps decide fish holding in current seams, holes and cluttered edges.
Its rear center of gravity provides an immediate feel at the cast: the lure flies straight, cuts through the wind and keeps a stable trajectory. This precision is crucial for placing the minnow discreetly close to obstacles, under branches or against eroded banks. The angler can thus fully exploit each spot by placing the minnow exactly where an ambushed trout lies.
The lure's ability to sink quickly on pauses is another major asset. It offers the possibility to fish different depths effectively without changing lures: you can skip shallow edges, then let the minnow sink to insist in a hole or at the foot of a rock. This versatility makes it an excellent choice to quickly prospect a stretch while focusing on key spots.
Finally, the finish quality and overall balance of the Great Hunting Humpback give anglers great confidence. Every animation, every pause and every regain of contact translates into a clean, controlled and highly enticing swim. It's a high-performance trout lure designed for those who want to optimize every drift and every cast.
Usage tips
To get the most out of this trout minnow, it is recommended to use it with a light rod and a fine line to precisely feel the swim and the slightest bite. In rivers, a natural drift approach is particularly effective: cast slightly upstream or three-quarters upstream, tighten the line and accompany the lure's trajectory by controlling the retrieve speed.
On straight retrieves, maintain a steady pace to make the most of the lure's pronounced rolling. In calmer areas or when you need to trigger a following fish, don't hesitate to add slight twitches and short pauses. On each stop, the Great Hunting Humpback sinks quickly into the water column: use this to present the lure right in front of the nose of a trout holding on the bottom.
On strong current seams, use cross casts to let the lure cross the seam while keeping contact. The minnow's stability allows a clean swim even when the water pushes hard. Vary drift lengths from a few meters under the rod to long runs to find the presentation that triggers the most strikes.
Finally adapt the retrieve speed to conditions: slower in cold water or on educated fish, faster to cover large stretches or provoke reflex strikes. Thanks to its design, the Megabass Great Hunting Humpback remains attractive across a wide range of speeds, making it a valuable ally throughout the season.
