The Myran Wipp Special is a spinning spoon that has become a classic over the decades. Its simple, carefully designed construction has one essential goal: to deliver a consistent action as soon as it enters the water. The blade starts rotating quickly, making the lure active without waiting for a long retrieve.
The shape of the blade helps keep the body perfectly straight during rotation. This stability promotes a clean presentation and limits erratic movement that could disrupt the action. The assembly has also been engineered to prevent the blade from sticking against the body while it spins. The mechanism therefore remains free and maintains smooth action.
The two-tone body adds extra visual contrast. This is complemented by the Myran sound design built into the blade’s operation. The combination of rotation, visual signals, and sound creates an attractive action without making the lure difficult to use.
The first major strength of this Myran spinner spoon is its quick start. A blade that begins moving as soon as it is submerged delivers immediate action and makes short retrieves easier. Anglers can use the lure naturally without needing strong rod action to set the blade in motion.
Its stable position is another advantage. By staying straight, the body properly supports the blade and preserves a consistent presentation. At the same time, the assembly reduces the risk of the components interfering with each other during the swim. This attention to construction makes the lure more reliable and lets you focus on the retrieve.
The Wipp Special finally combines several forms of stimulation in a traditional format: rotating motion, body contrast, and sound effect. This combination explains why this model remains among the brand’s classic fishing lures.
Cast the spoon to the area you want to fish, then begin the retrieve once it enters the water. Since the blade is designed to start quickly, a hard jerk is normally not necessary. A steady retrieve lets you observe the regularity of the rotation and find the pace best suited to the conditions.
You can gradually vary the retrieve speed while making sure the blade stays active. A slower pace keeps the lure in a specific area longer, while a faster retrieve helps cover more water. In both cases, avoid excessive movements that could unnecessarily disturb the lure’s stability.
After each outing, check that the blade spins freely around its axis and that no debris is hindering the assembly. A rinse suited to the conditions, followed by careful drying, helps keep the lure working cleanly.
Question 1: Does the blade start rotating quickly?
Answer: Yes. Its shape is specifically designed to start rotation as soon as the spoon touches the water.
Question 2: Can the blade stick to the body?
Answer: The Wipp Special’s assembly is designed to prevent this from happening during rotation and to preserve smooth action.
Question 3: What signals does the lure produce during the retrieve?
Answer: It combines the blade’s rotation, the visual contrast of the two-tone body, and Myran’s characteristic sound construction.
