Product advantages
Designed by Megabass to handle delicate situations, the Marine Gang Cookai 90S is a sinking minnow specifically conceived to imitate small prey. Its compact profile and ultra-natural swimming action make it highly effective when predators are wary or concentrated on tiny baitfish.
Thanks to the LBO II mass transfer system, this minnow achieves exceptional casting distances. Even against wind or from the shore, it enables reaching distant marks and quickly covering large amounts of water — a major advantage for predator fishing targeting active or selective fish.
Its balanced design provides excellent stability while swimming and during the fall. On pauses, it sinks while producing a pronounced rolling that perfectly simulates a struggling baitfish, very often provoking reflex strikes from predators.
Technical specifications
The Megabass Marine Gang Cookai 90S belongs to a family of marine minnows renowned for their ability to prospect large areas quickly. This version stands out by its more compact size, ideal when fish target small prey or when fishing pressure is high.
- Hard sinking minnow for sub-surface prospecting
- Internal mass transfer system LBO II for long, accurate casts
- Action combining tight wobbling and attractive rolling on pauses
- Imitative small baitfish profile, effective early season and on selective fish
- Versatile on slow, steady, fast retrieves or twitching animations
- Fitted with trebles suitable for intensive predator fishing
Its hardware and components are sized to withstand repeated attacks from powerful predators. This hard predator lure thus maintains its swimming performance over time, even under intensive use in salt or fresh water.
Benefits and strengths
The primary strength of this Megabass sinking lure is its ability to reach areas normally inaccessible with a minnow of similar size. The LBO II system optimizes range and accuracy, allowing anglers to fish distant marks, breaks, rock heads or offshore busts without spooking fish.
Its behavior on retrieve offers great freedom of animation. On a slow straight retrieve it undulates subtly to tempt lethargic fish. On a faster retrieve or when worked as a jerkbait it becomes much more aggressive and triggers reaction strikes. The stop-and-go phases, during which it sinks while rolling on itself, are particularly effective on following predators.
This minnow excels when predators feed on small fish or juveniles. Its compact size combined with a tight action matches these prey perfectly. It is therefore deadly early in the season, during baitfish spawning, or on heavily pressured fish that refuse larger-profile lures.
Usage tips
The Marine Gang Cookai 90S performs best rigged on a light to medium power spinning or baitcasting rod, paired with thin braid and a fluorocarbon leader. This setup allows full benefit of its casting ability and to feel the slightest bite.
To start, a simple steady retrieve with short pauses is enough to exploit its attractive rolling on the fall. Once familiar with its behavior, vary speeds, apply short sharp twitches or long pulls to alternate direction changes and accelerations.
This lure is effective from the shore — beaches, breakwaters and estuaries — as well as from a boat to sweep edges, ledges and current zones. In freshwater it is advantageously used to target predators on baitfish chases or patrolling along structures.
