Product strengths
Designed for river trout fishing, the Smith D-Compact lure is a technical hardbait that concentrates maximum performance in a compact format. Its streamlined silhouette and studied profile allow it to pass easily through fast water lanes as well as slower currents, without snagging or rolling.
Thanks to its internal weighting and precise mass distribution, this river trout hardbait remains stable whether fished upstream or downstream. It maintains a tight, vibrating action that triggers strikes from educated fish, even when flows are low and the water is very clear.
This model is particularly appreciated by sportive anglers seeking a technical trout lure capable of convincing wary fish on short stretches: current heads, cut banks, pronounced runs or deep pools reachable from the bank.

Advantages and highlights
The strength of the Smith D-Compact trout lure lies in its ability to fish a wide variety of sections effectively while offering optimal control of depth and speed. It allows precise coverage of each spot, focusing where the wariest fish hold.
Its tight action, highly attractive without being overly aggressive, is perfect for low-water periods when trout hug the bottom and refuse wide, exaggerated movements. Even with a slow retrieve, the trout hardbait preserves a perceptible vibration that remains natural and non-stressful for the fish.
Versatile, it adapts to different fishing styles: fast prospecting of runs, precise scratching of margins, insisting on breaks or deep zones. Anglers can thus cover a wide variety of situations without constantly changing lure, making it a true reference in the river trout lure category.
Usage tips
To get the best from this trout lure, use a light rod with a sensitive action to feel the lure's movement and the most discreet bites. A fine line also helps present the lure naturally, especially in strong currents or very clear water.
When fishing upstream, a steady retrieve punctuated by slight rod twitches is often enough to trigger bites. Short twitches and lateral animations make the lure flash and accentuate its deviations, imitating a small fish in distress. When fishing downstream, brief pauses followed by controlled re-accelerations are very effective to entice trout holding near the bottom.
Don't hesitate to adapt retrieve speed to the fish's reactions: in cold or very low water, slow down and favor minimalist animations; when trout are active, sharp accelerations and stronger pulls can provoke reflex strikes.
