Product benefits
Designed for demanding anglers, the Smith AR Spinner is a metal lure engineered to make the most of small waterways. Its blade is crafted to start spinning instantly on contact with the water, allowing the lure to be effectively animated even in very short current seams or shallow runs.
Developed by Japanese specialist Hiroyuki Motoyama, this trout spinner for rivers and streams stands out for its remarkable tolerance to current variations. It stays stable in the current seam while producing strong vibrations and multiple flashes, enough to trigger strikes from trout, perch and other wary predators.
Thanks to a drop-shaped central weight mounted with slight play, the AR Spinner reduces tension transfer to the line. The lure thus works naturally, without restricting rod action or causing excessive line twist, improving angling comfort over a full day of fishing.
Technical features
- Metal lure of the spinner spoon type suited for freshwater fishing.
- Blade with finely worked edge for ultra-fast rotation as soon as it enters the water.
- Drop-shaped central weight providing excellent stability and an optimized center of gravity.
- Rigging designed to minimize torsion effects on the line and preserve the fluidity of animations.
- Attractive swimming combining tight vibrations and bright flashes to stimulate fish aggression.
- Specifically designed for trout fishing in rivers, streams and small torrents.
- Also suitable for targeting other small to medium-sized predatory fish in flowing water.
- Available in several weight and finish variants to adjust presentation to fishing conditions.
Benefits and key strengths
The primary advantage of the Smith AR Spinner is its immediate action. Where some spoons need a few turns of the reel to spin properly, the AR Spinner begins working within the first few centimeters. This responsiveness is decisive for precisely covering tight spots, edge positions, shallow runs or cache entrances.
Its great versatility is another major asset. Whether fishing upstream or downstream, in clear or slightly stained water, the spoon maintains exemplary line hold. It handles changes in retrieve speed very well, allowing alternation of pauses, accelerations and passes under obstacles without losing the fish.
- Immediate rotation for efficient probing of short zones.
- Strong visual and vibratory signal to trigger educated fish.
- Careful Japanese design, ensuring finish and durability.
- Usable by both beginners and experienced anglers.
- Easy to cast and control, even with light lines.
Usage tips
To get the best from this trout-specific spinner spoon, use a light lure rod with a progressive action and a low-diameter monofilament or braided line. The goal is to keep excellent contact with the lure while allowing the blade to spin freely.
On small waterways, methodically prospect classic holding areas: shaded banks, cache exits, well-defined seams behind rocks, tailouts and confluences. Cast slightly upstream, let the blade start spinning as it hits the water, then accompany the drift with a steady retrieve while controlling depth.
- Adjust retrieve speed to the current strength to maintain contact without snagging the bottom.
- Vary casting angles to present the lure from different profiles to the fish.
- Change animations (steady retrieve, small rod-tip twitches, light accelerations) to trigger hesitant follows.
- Approach quietly to avoid spooking fish holding near the bank.
