Big Pike Lures PROMETHEUS Shad Soft Lure - 27 cm - 160 g

Product highlights

The Big Pike Lures Prometheus Shad 27 cm 160 g is a soft lure for large pike specifically developed to select trophy fish. At 27 cm and 160 g, this oversized shad sends a very strong visual and vibratory signal, ideal when pike target large prey such as bream or big roach. Its massive silhouette and generous paddle produce a wide, slow swim that remains attractive even at very low speed.

Designed by pike specialists, this large‑format soft shad combines a streamlined body for good water penetration and a powerful tail for a pronounced kick. It casts far, stays stable in current and allows quick coverage of large areas while maintaining a natural presentation. It’s an excellent choice for fishing in large lakes, reservoirs and calm rivers when targeting the biggest specimens.

Advantages and strengths

The main advantage of the Prometheus Shad Big Pike Lures lies in its ability to select the largest pike in the waterbody. Its imposing size faithfully mimics a large prey, triggering the predatory instinct of dominant predators. Opting for a big bait soft lure increases your chances of catching fewer fish but significantly larger ones.

Its swim is engineered to remain attractive at all retrieve speeds: slow linear near the bottom, hard pulls on breaks, or faster retrieves to trigger reflex strikes. The wide paddle sets the whole body in motion, generating a large water displacement detectable from a distance by pike lateral lines. This makes it a major asset in stained water or when fish are scattered.

Another strong point: its density and profile favor long, accurate casts even into headwinds. You can reach distant shorelines, remote sandbanks or the tops of weedbeds difficult to approach by boat. Its measured softness improves lure retention on the hook while limiting premature tears — crucial when hooking multiple large fish.

Usage tips

To exploit the full potential of the Big Pike Lures Prometheus Shad 27 cm, pair it with a suitable big‑bait rod (approx. 100–200 g) and a robust reel spooled with strong braid. A slow to medium linear retrieve with the rod low allows the paddle to work fully and lets the lure swim naturally, very effective on pike holding on shelves and gentle slopes.

In deeper zones or around marked breaks, vary your animation: alternate long pulls and controlled descents while keeping contact with the lure. Pauses and rhythm changes often trigger strikes from following trophy pike. Don’t hesitate to fish around weedbeds, submerged timber, inflows or drop‑offs where the biggest fish usually hold.

Adapt your rig to depth and structure: heavier or lighter jigheads for deep fishing, shallow rigs armed with trebles for shallow or snaggy areas. A thick‑diameter fluorocarbon leader or quality steel leader is essential to withstand the sharp teeth of large pike. Finally, handle landing and releasing fish carefully to practice responsible fishing.

FAQ

Question 1: Is this lure suitable for an angler who is experienced but not a big‑bait expert?

Answer: Yes, the Big Pike Lures Prometheus Shad is simple to animate. A slow linear retrieve is sufficient to make it effective, provided you use a rod/reel setup suitable for its 160 g weight.

Question 2: Can it be used both from shore and from a boat?

Answer: Thanks to its weight and streamlined shape, it casts very far from shore and performs just as well while drifting or anchored from a boat, making it a versatile soft lure for pike.

Question 3: What is the best time to use it?

Answer: It excels in spring and autumn, when pike readily consume large prey, but remains deadly year‑round whenever you aim to target large specimens.
