Product Advantages
The SMITH D-CONTACT SP suspending lure is designed for technical anglers seeking a hard minnow able to adapt to both strong currents and calmer stretches. Its tight, vibrating action stays stable even during accelerations, making it a versatile lure for trout and river predators. Thanks to its suspending property, it holds its position in the water column during pauses, giving fish time to decide to strike.
Ideal for probing current seams, banks, breaks or holes, this model allows precise emphasis on fish-holding areas without losing effectiveness. Its balanced density and carefully studied center of gravity promote accurate casts and a natural presentation, even in difficult or heavily pressured fishing conditions.

Advantages and Strengths
The main asset of the SMITH D-CONTACT SP suspending is its ability to fish effectively in highly varied situations. It handles fast animations in steady current without difficulty, while remaining deadly when worked slowly in calm stretches, flats or counter-currents. This versatility lets you cover a maximum of spots without constantly changing lures.
The suspending function is decisive for triggering bites from wary fish: by alternating retrieves and pauses, the lure remains in the predator's field of view, which often ends up striking during the stop. This natural presentation perfectly imitates a small fish in distress, making it a particularly effective lure under heavy fishing pressure or on fish that have already been targeted.
Robust and reliable, this model is designed to accompany the angler on many outings, whether early in the season on cold waters or later when you need to speed up to provoke more active fish. It suits both experienced anglers and beginners looking to progress with a technical yet accessible lure.
Usage Tips
To get the most out of the D-CONTACT SP suspending lure, animate it with combinations of steady retrieves punctuated by short pauses. In rivers, cast slightly upstream, control the drift while keeping constant contact with the lure, then mark one or more pauses in areas likely to hold fish (heads or tails of pools, deep edges, submerged obstacles).
On slow retrieves, let the lure work on its own action while simply accompanying it with the reel. On faster retrieves, introduce small pulls or twitches to accentuate lateral gaps and provoke reflex strikes. Always adapt the animation speed to water temperature and fish activity: the colder the water, the more you should slow down and lengthen pause times.
Also vary the search depth by changing your rod angle and line tension to remain as long as possible in the water layer where active fish are located. Used on discreet, fine leaders, this lure shows its full potential, particularly on trout and other wary predators.
FAQ
Question 1 : Is this lure suitable only for trout?
Answer: The SMITH D-CONTACT SP was designed with river trout in mind, but its profile and action also make it an excellent choice for other small to medium-sized freshwater predators, provided you adapt leader size, rod power and retrieve style to the targeted species.
