Product Highlights
The Wolfcreek Lures Skinny Wolf is the plastic version of a true classic, designed to recreate the feel of a traditional glide bait / jerkbait while benefiting from the consistency and durability of modern construction. Its behavior in the water stands out for a long glide on the pause and an erratic swimming action on the retrieve, ideal for triggering reaction strikes when predators follow but hesitate to commit.
Thanks to its slow sinking density, it effectively works the water column just below the surface or over shallow flats while remaining easy to control. You can insert pauses to let the lure “hang” and slide sideways, then restart the action with a pull or a jerky retrieve: this alternation mimics an injured baitfish and increases your chances of a strike, even from pressured fish.

Product Benefits and Key Advantages
The main strength of the Skinny Wolf is its ability to combine a broad, natural “glide” action with a more aggressive response when worked harder. In practice, it can be fished smoothly to cover water quickly, or worked in short sequences with pauses to focus on a specific spot. This versatility makes it an excellent choice for covering large weed beds, edges, drop-offs, and ambush points where pike and muskies like to lie in wait.
Its polycarbonate construction is designed to resist impacts, teeth, and the stress of repeated casts. The stainless steel through-wire provides added security during heavy fights, especially with powerful fish. Another important advantage is the lead-free weighting, appreciated by anglers looking for a more responsible solution without sacrificing performance.
Finally, the VMC hooks help ensure solid hooksets and reliable holding power. Whether you fish a large lake, a slow river, or coastal areas, this lure maintains stable action and a profile designed to provoke decisive strikes.
How to Use
To make the most of the long glide on the pause, work the lure with a “pull and pause” retrieve: a sideways pull or short tug, then a clean stop to let it drift and sink slowly. Vary the length of the pauses to find the rhythm that triggers bites. For active fish, a retrieve punctuated with small rod twitches can enhance the erratic swimming action and imitate a panicked prey item.
Match your leader to the target species (bite-resistant for pike and muskie), and check hook points regularly after contact with cover or structure. In saltwater, rinsing with fresh water after each session helps preserve the metal components over time.
FAQ
Question 1: Is the Skinny Wolf more of a glide bait or a jerkbait?
Answer: It sits at the crossroads of both. Its action resembles a glide bait with a wide lateral sweep on the pause, while also handling jerk-style animations to produce a more erratic swim.
Question 2: Can it be used in saltwater?
Answer: Yes, it is designed to perform in both freshwater and saltwater, with a stainless steel through-wire construction. Rinsing after saltwater use is still recommended.
Question 3: What does slow sinking mean on this lure?
Answer: It means a slow descent. The lure sinks gradually, making it easier to use long pauses and keep it in the strike zone without dropping too quickly.
