Advantages and strengths
One of the major strengths of the Spearhead Ryuki is its ability to be used both in upstream and downstream fishing. The angler can naturally follow the river profile, moving up or down the watercourse while maintaining confidence in the behavior of the minnow.
Its casting accuracy is a major asset for fishing technically difficult areas: hollows under trees, eroded banks, narrow current seams, small hides where the nicest fish often hold. By placing the lure as close as possible to these key spots, the angler significantly increases the chances of a strike.
The range is also designed to adapt to varied conditions. Depending on the chosen variations, the Spearhead Ryuki can cover different swimming depths and current speeds. Anglers thus have a modular tool that lets them fine-tune presentations according to season, water level or fish activity.
Finally, DUO’s reputation for finish and production consistency guarantees a reliable lure, ready to fish straight out of the box. It is a true investment for river trout enthusiasts who want a set of performant, durable lures.
Usage tips
To get the most from the Spearhead Ryuki, adapt retrieve speed to the strength of the current. In fast seams, a quicker retrieve helps keep the line tight and maintains a stable action. In slower currents, a gentler presentation with pauses will better showcase the hard lure.
When fishing upstream, cast slightly above the target spots and manage the drift by controlling the line. The goal is to let the minnow work in the main water seam while staying in constant contact to set the hook at the slightest strike.
When fishing downstream, aim for edges, current breaks and submerged obstacles. A retrieve alternating short jerks (twitches) and more linear phases can trigger following fish. Do not hesitate to focus on marked zones: run entrances and exits, heads and tails of pools, sheltered bays or currents broken by rocks.
The Spearhead Ryuki fits perfectly into a mobile approach where the angler covers a lot of ground. Move progressively along the river, multiply cast angles and slightly vary animations to find the presentation that produces the most strikes that day.
