Sinking Lure DUO Spearhead Ryuki 38 S - 3.8 cm

Product benefits

The DUO Spearhead Ryuki 38 S is an ultra-compact hardbait specifically developed for situations where predators, particularly trout, focus on very small prey. The smallest model of the renowned Ryuki family, it offers a discreet, realistic silhouette that triggers strikes even from the wariest fish.

Thanks to its reduced size and refined design, this trout lure is suitable for both experienced anglers and enthusiasts looking to refine their approach on small rivers, technical streams or heavily fished areas. Its tight, vibrating action remains stable in current, making it an ideal choice for fishing just beneath the surface in shallow runs.

Equipped with #14 treble hooks, the Spearhead Ryuki 38 S hardbait strikes a fine balance between subtlety, hookup efficiency and safety during the fight. Its indicated swimming depth of 0.4 to 0.8 m allows effective prospecting of a wide variety of spots without excessively snagging the bottom.

Advantages and strengths

The main asset of the Spearhead Ryuki 38 S is its ability to attract picky fish thanks to its small size. When trout or other predators refuse bulkier lures, this tiny minnow imitation often makes the difference. It is particularly effective in clear water, delicate fishing conditions, or under heavy fishing pressure.

Its action activates from the first turns of the reel, delivering a tight, lively and stable movement that remains perceptible even in strong currents. This natural swimming action allows the angler to keep contact with the lure and feel bites easily, even on light tippets.

The #14 treble hook setup ensures good hookup quality while remaining appropriate for the lure's modest size. Their dimensions are chosen to optimize success rates without unduly weighing down or altering the lure's balance.

Finally, the Spearhead Ryuki 38 S fits perfectly into a technical trout approach: it complements larger models in the same range and covers a wide range of situations, from small overgrown streams to more open shallow runs.

Usage tips

The DUO Spearhead Ryuki 38 S performs best for sight fishing or precise prospecting of marked spots: seams, edges, head of currents, breaks, submerged obstacles, etc. With its 0.4–0.8 m running depth, it works ideally just above the bottom in many trout river profiles.

For animation, a steady retrieve is often enough to trigger strikes, especially when fish are active. On tougher days, vary retrieve speeds and add small rod twitches (twitching) to create sudden lateral displacements, imitating a distressed minnow. Short pauses followed by a restart can also provoke reflex strikes.

Used on discreet leaders and lightweight setups, this trout lure enables a natural presentation, particularly in clear shallow waters. Don't hesitate to vary casting angles (upstream, three-quarter upstream, across) to best use the current and pass the lure in front of hidden fish.

The Spearhead Ryuki 38 S is also effective on other small predators such as perch or chub when they feed on fry. In those cases, keep the animations subtle and the retrieve speed moderate to remain realistic.
