The DUO Spearhead Ryuki 70 S is a trout minnow specially developed for anglers tackling large rivers and strong currents. Where many lures lose action or drift too quickly, this model maintains a steady swim, allowing you to precisely comb the water runs where the largest fish hold.
Thanks to its refined design, this hard trout lure casts long and accurately. You can reach opposite banks, breaks and shaded areas often out of reach, while keeping full control of the trajectory. Its tight, lively action imitates a small distressed fish, a trigger that river trout find hard to resist.
The Spearhead Ryuki 70 S is suitable for both experienced anglers and enthusiasts looking to improve their river trout fishing. Easy to handle, it withstands a variety of retrieves – straight or more technical – without losing its hold in the current, making it an excellent tool to explore a wide range of holding spots.
Technical features
Minnow-type hardbait, ideal for prospecting large trout rivers.
Slim profile promoting long, accurate casts even into the wind.
Tight, lively action designed to remain attractive in strong currents.
Durable hard lure, suitable for snaggy river environments and obstacles.
Suitable for cast-and-retrieve approaches, downstream or quarter-downstream presentations.
Designed primarily for targeting trout while remaining attractive to other opportunistic river predators.
Beyond these key points, the overall design of the DUO Spearhead Ryuki 70 S emphasizes consistent action. The lure stays well in its water column, allowing you to precisely control the depth by simply varying retrieval speed and rod angle. This control is a major asset when working holding areas: head of pools, undercut banks, heavy rolls, counter-currents…
Advantages and strengths
The main advantage of the Spearhead Ryuki 70 S is its ability to hold the current. On large rivers, a lure that breaks off or surfaces wastes valuable time. Here, you can slow down or speed up your retrieve without losing control of the action, allowing you to adapt your fishing to trout behavior.
Its long casting range is another essential strength. Reaching distant spots lets you surprise less-pressured fish, often more wary and larger. This prospecting versatility is valuable when you need to cover a long stretch of river quickly.
Animation versatility is also a major plus. The DUO trout minnow can be retrieved steadily for a natural, effective action, or worked with jerks, twitches and pauses to trigger strikes from following or sluggish fish. This adaptability makes it particularly useful for refining tactics throughout the day.
Finally, the attention to finish and overall quality of this river trout lure makes it a durable investment. It’s a model you’ll keep in your box for a long time and one that easily earns a place among reference lures for technical large-river fishing.
Usage tips
To get the most from the DUO Spearhead Ryuki 70 S, use it primarily for trout fishing in current:
Cast slightly downstream or quarter-downstream so the lure quickly comes into action in the run.
Adjust retrieval speed according to current strength: the stronger the flow, the more you can speed up without harming the lure’s action.
Don’t hesitate to add short pauses or small rod twitches to trigger reflex strikes.
Focus on marked areas: current inlets and outlets, undercut banks, rocks, water turnings.
Vary casting angles to present the lure from different approaches, which can provoke following fish.
Paired with a light to medium spinning outfit, spooled with fine braid or a quality nylon, the Spearhead Ryuki 70 S reveals its full potential. A fluorocarbon leader sized to the fish and water clarity will complete your rig ideally.
